Troubleshooting Guide

If you encounter any issues while using the Discord Minecraft Whitelist Bot, refer to the following troubleshooting tips and solutions to resolve common problems.

Issue: Bot not responding to commands

  • Ensure that the bot is running and connected to your Discord server. Check that the bot's status is "online" in the Discord server member list.
  • Verify that the bot has the necessary permissions to read and send messages in the text channels where commands are being executed.
  • Double-check that the command prefix is correct. For example, if the command prefix is /, ensure that you are using the correct format like /mc-setup, /mc-help, etc.

Issue: Incorrect Whitelist Updates

  • Confirm that the Minecraft server address, RCON port, and RCON password entered during setup are accurate. Any changes to these details may cause connection issues.
  • Verify that the key role for whitelisting is correctly configured and assigned to the users who should have whitelist access. Ensure that the role name is spelled correctly and matches the configured name in the config.json file.

Issue: Bot unable to connect to the Minecraft server

  • Check if the Minecraft server is running and accessible. Ensure that the server IP, port, and RCON settings are correctly configured in the config.json file.
  • Confirm that the RCON port and password entered in the config.json file match the corresponding settings on the Minecraft server.
  • Ensure that any firewall or network settings are properly configured to allow the bot to connect to the Minecraft server using RCON.

Issue: Invalid Minecraft Name

  • Ensure that the Minecraft name you are trying to link using the /mc-setname command is valid and does not contain any special characters or spaces.
  • Check for any typing errors when entering the Minecraft name. It must match the actual Minecraft username exactly.
