This sounds like another issue then the OP here has.
Maybe you can make another issue?
Also to me "it was working pretty decent" and "crash on launch" sound rather contradictory somehow?

You just left JASP open for 3 hours and then it crashed?
Did your pc sleep/hibernate in the meantime?
And perhaps you could turn on logging so that the next time this happens we can have a look at that and see what caused it?
